Counsel for the eight people charged for storming a Kumasi Circuit Court to free some suspects said his clients are innocent.

According to lawyer Gary Nimako, the eight suspects were nowhere near the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Court, therefore, could not have caused the distraction they are being accused of.

He revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday after his clients were denied bail after they were suspected to be part of pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Delta Force who stormed the court last week and freed 13 suspects standing trial for assaulting the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.

They have been remanded after a bail application by the lawyer was denied and are to reappear in court on April 18, 2017.

But their lawyer, Gary Nimako is convinced his clients are innocent.

He indicated that the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove the eight were at the court premises when the incident occurred.

This notwithstanding, Mr. Nimako said he respect the decision of the court and is preparing to defend his clients in court.
