Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, Director-General of the CID, Lydia Yaako Donkor, and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, have paid a visit to former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.
The visit follows a shooting incident on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in which Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot wound to her left ear while visiting the residence of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.
The trio visited the former MP while she was receiving emergency treatment at Yeboah Hospital in East Legon.
A video shared on Facebook by 1957 News captured Mike Ocquaye Jnr, who was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya in the 2024 election, in hearty conversation with the CID boss and Mr. Dumelo.
The incident is alleged to have occurred amid tensions linked to an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
The lawyer for the Kristo Asafo Church, Nana Kofi Kantaka, has alleged that Adwoa Safo fired the first shot during an incident that disrupted the introduction of the church’s newly appointed leader.
According to the lawyer, private security personnel on duty became concerned that the actions could endanger lives, as many people were gathered within the premises.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service, in a statement, disclosed that Adwoa Safo reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24, which had visible gunshot damage.
She was issued a medical report form and is currently receiving treatment, while the vehicle has been retained for forensic examination.
