The Queen Mother of Kɔbɛdi, a farming community near Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, Nana Ameyaa Ansu Gyeabour, has spoken publicly about the mysterious death of the headmistress of Kɔbɛdi AME Zion Basic School, an incident that forced the temporary closure of the school.

According to the Queen Mother, academic activities were suspended for one week following the sudden death of the headmistress, Madam Gladys Dorlo Batinge, as fear and tension gripped the community.

She revealed that concerns deepened after another teacher reportedly died under unusual circumstances, triggering speculation among residents about the possible cause of the deaths.

Nana Ameyaa Ansu Gyeabour explained that some community members suspect the incidents may be linked to an alleged curse invoked by a native associated with the nearby Nzor community over accusations of extortion involving some school authorities.

Speaking to the media, the Queen Mother said the traditional council has stepped in to help resolve the matter and restore calm in the community.

Meanwhile, the Krotihene of Kɔbɛdi, Nana Korang Amoah Asimpi, has criticised what he described as false and misleading reports circulating in sections of the media regarding the closure of the community’s only basic school.

He called on journalists and media houses to uphold professionalism by verifying information before publishing stories that could create panic and misunderstanding among residents.
