The Central Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has directed that all Akwasidae celebrations in the Denkyira Traditional Area be held strictly within palace premises, citing concerns over the prevailing security situation.
The Council has also suspended all chieftaincy installation ceremonies in the area until further notice.
The directive was contained in a letter dated August 28, 2026, signed by the Central Regional Minister and Chairman of REGSEC, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, and addressed to the Denkyirahene, Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV.
Under the directive, all Akwasidae rituals, gatherings and related activities are to be conducted exclusively within the palaces in Dunkwa-On-Offin.
REGSEC has also placed a temporary hold on the installation of sub-chiefs and other traditional leaders by either of the two factions involved in the chieftaincy dispute in the area.
“No installation processes or ceremonies shall take place until further notice,” the letter stated.
The Council warned that any breach of the directive would lead to the immediate ban and shutdown of the affected activities by state security agencies.
REGSEC said representatives of the two factions would be invited to a meeting in the coming days as part of efforts to resolve the issues and restore calm to the traditional area.
Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed to the various palaces to monitor activities and ensure compliance with the directive.
The Council has further cautioned that persons who defy the order will be arrested and prosecuted, as authorities work to prevent any further escalation of tensions in the Denkyira Traditional Area.
