Parliament’s five-member committee investigating the cash-for-seat scandal has been given one more week to complete its investigations and submit its findings to Parliament.
This follows the failure of the expatriate businesses that sponsored the GEBA Awards last December to appear before the committees on January 17 to testify on the invitation of the committee.

The committee was expected to complete work and submit its findings to Parliament on Wednesday, January 24 but had to postpone its sitting indefinitely in order to find out what the exact reason was for the absence of the expatriate businesses not to appear before the committee.

Speaking to Adom News, Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, said the chairman of the committee who is also the majority chief whip, Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh asked that the committee’s deadline be extended to ensure the testimony of the expatriate businesses is included in the final report.
A key witness in the case, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said he sees nothing wrong with the committee asking for an extension.
According to him, what is important is how well the committee carries out its mandate.
