Former Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang, has called on Ghana football authorities to adopt a long-term strategy for the Black Stars following the team’s disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana’s campaign at the tournament ended after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia, with Jhon Arias scoring the decisive goal in the first half.

Baah-Agyemang urges patience and long-term plan for Black Stars rebuild
Former Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang, has stressed the need for patience and proper planning as Ghana seeks to rebuild the Black Stars following their exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, he said the team’s current situation requires a long-term strategy rather than a focus on immediate success.
“From what we all watched, we should not aim at immediate success. I believe that we should have a long-term plan for the Black Stars, and that will help the team to succeed,” he said.
“Everyone wants to succeed, but you need to have a plan, and with the situation of the Black Stars at the moment, the team needs a long-term plan,” Mr Baah-Agyemang added.
Despite their elimination, Ghana’s qualification for the knockout stage represented the Black Stars’ best World Cup performance since reaching the last 16 at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
The team will now turn its attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin later this year.
Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Gambia, and Somalia as they seek qualification for the continental tournament.
