Former Ghana captain André Ayew has urged the Black Maidens to approach their crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying second-leg encounter against Senegal with confidence, determination, and self-belief.

Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team heads into the decisive fixture after securing a goalless draw against Senegal in Dakar last week, leaving the tie evenly poised ahead of the return match.

The Black Maidens are intensifying preparations for Saturday’s crucial game at the Accra Sports Stadium, where victory will guarantee qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Ayew paid a morale-boosting visit to the team’s training camp in Accra, where he commended the players for their efforts and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity before them.

“Opportunities like these do not come around often, and I encourage you to play with courage, discipline and belief in your abilities,” the U-20 World Cup winner told the team.

The former Black Stars skipper also reminded the players of the pride and responsibility that come with representing Ghana, urging them to stay united and trust the work they have put in throughout the qualification campaign.

“You need to stay united, enjoy the moment and leave everything on the pitch. The entire country is behind you and believes you can qualify,” he added.

With a place at the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at stake, the Black Maidens will be hoping to capitalise on home advantage when they face Senegal in the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30 GMT.
