The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office in Bechem in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region has registered about 1,558 vehicles and generated more than GH¢2 million in revenue within 10 months of operation.
The office, which was commissioned in October 2025, has also provided vehicle registration, driver licensing and roadworthiness inspection services to residents in the municipality.
Director of the Tano South DVLA office, David Kwame Appiah, said the establishment of the facility had significantly improved access to DVLA services for residents.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr Appiah said the achievements recorded within the relatively short period demonstrated the importance of bringing DVLA services closer to the people.
He said the registered vehicles included motorbikes and other vehicles, while the office had also handled a number of licensing and roadworthiness-related activities.
According to him, the office has generated revenue exceeding GH¢2 million since it began operations.
Mr Appiah, however, identified delays in the renewal of driving licences and roadworthiness certificates as one of the major challenges confronting motorists in the area.
He cautioned drivers against waiting until their documents expire before renewing them, noting that late renewals could attract penalties and put motorists at risk of violating road traffic regulations.
He therefore appealed to drivers to renew their licences and vehicle documents on time to avoid unnecessary penalties and ensure compliance with the law.
