New Patriotic Party 2028 presidential hopeful Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has met with leaders of Ghana’s medical students and junior doctors to address key challenges facing the next generation of health professionals.
The former Vice President said the interaction brought together the national leadership of the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), the Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association (FGMSA), and presidents of medical students’ associations from various institutions across the country.
According to him, the discussions offered a platform for frank exchanges on the realities of medical training and career development. Issues raised included conditions of training, delays in postings, welfare concerns and pathways for professional growth.
Dr Bawumia stressed that the experiences and views of young doctors and medical students should guide policy formulation, given the central role they will play in the nation’s health system.
“These are the brilliant minds who will carry the weight of Ghana’s healthcare system tomorrow, and their voices must shape our policies today,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the student and junior doctor leaders for what he described as a productive and insightful conversation.
