Former Youth and Sports Minister, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has stated that the Ayew brothers deserve a recall into the senior national team, Black Stars.
The duo have not gained a call up to the senior side since their withdrawal from Ghana’s squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier second leg against Congo in September on health grounds.
But both returned to club action few days after pulling out, which many believes may not have gone down well with Coach Kwasi Appiah.
However, the Member of Parliament of Odododiodoo Constituency said “Whether you like it or not those boys are good but sometimes how to play them is the problem. No one can convince me that Dede Ayew does not deserve to be in the National team”.
“Dede adds something to the team, apart from his personal attributes, he tenacity in a game is very important. It inspires others, he fights and that is what we want to see”.
There have been no official explanation for the Ayews’ snub, though many believes their omission has been due to recent poor performances in the national colours.
