A former Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region, Baba Jamal has broken his silence after he was prevented from casting his vote as a government appointee during the just ended constituency elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

According to him, some aggrieved party members incited the youth to chase him out of the venue.

“I went there to cast my vote and these small boys prevented me from casting the vote. I know some people see my as a threat so they told the boys to do that. Even the delegates heard my name being mentioned but these small boys prevented me” he said on Accra based Okay fm monitored by Adomonline.com.

According to the youth in the area, though Baba Jamal is a known member of the NDC, they do not want him as a member of the constituency.

Baba Jamal was prevented from entering the conference grounds to cast his vote.

Despite that, they were still overpowered by the huge number of the youth.

The youth insisted that Baba Jamal should not enter the Nima Cluster of Schools, near the Nima Police Station which was the venue for the program.

All efforts to convince the youth and Election Committee to allow Baba Jamal to cast his vote fell on death-ears.

But Mr Jamal said he did not understand the development so he went in for the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Kwesi Ofori, who escorted him to the grounds.

He said he when he is allowed to vote, he will not gain use that to force himself on the people as their Parliamentary Candidate and therefore could not fathom why he was prevented.
