Some parts of the Ashanti Region will soon be hit by acute water shortage.
The head of corporate communications at Ghana Water Company Limited, Stanley Martey who disclosed this to Adom News said the heavy downpour has affected the quality of water being generated hence the need to shut down the Barekese Dam in the region for maintenance.
Mr Martey explained that, their engineers are currently working tirelessly to start supply water to residents.
“There will be a water shortage for some few weeks because we need to undertake some works at the dam. We will open the dam when maintenance works is done” he said.
Stanley Martey noted that his outfit has made provisions for organizations like hospitals and schools in the affected areas.
He however pleaded with the residents to exercise patience while they work on the dam.
