Greater Accra Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, says some delegates in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency were unduly disenfranchised in the party’s parliamentary primaries held on August 24, 2019.
The comment of the regional chairman follows a report by one of the parliamentary aspirants, Michael Tetteh Kwetey about a short-listed list that was used for the election.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he said “some delegates were unduly disenfranchised in the primary because as far as the region is concerned, 92 branches were expected to vote but 89 were presented by the national executives on the day of the election,” he said.
According to the chairman, this was an issue that came up in the 2016 election but was resolved by the national and regional executives so the national executives could best explain what happened.
“The results have been declared so there is nothing we (regional executives) can do,” he said.
“The caliber of people who have been voted for will help us to reclaim our seats we lost to the New Patriotic Party and we are going to ensure every line of the party respects structures and become disciplined to avoid any problem,” he assured.
