Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has asked the founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe not to interfere in the matter involving Ibrahim Mahama and the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO).

According to him, the issue is a clear criminal case therefore will not rest until the business mogul is put behind bars.

He said he would be saddened if Mr. Mahama was not prosecuted because the businessman has short-changed the nation.

“I have been vindicated and Nyaho Tamakloe should stop jumping into his nephew’s defence. They are all aware of the dubious act Ibrahim is involved in but kept quiet because of selfish gains but I will make sure he is sent to court, prosecuted and jailed. Nyaho should shut up and allow us to talk” he said.

EOCO on Tuesday invited Mr Mahama for questioning for issuing some dud cheques to the Customs divisions of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Port to clear some heavy duty equipment he imported into the country.

At his last appearance, EOCO asked him to bring along his passport. He was asked to reappear on Friday, 21 April. He honoured that invitation amidst solidarity from his supporters.

But Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe who could not hide his frustrations over the use of the EOCO to investigate Mr. Mahama’s transactions with the GRA accused President Nana Akufo-Addo of witch-hunting Mr Mahama for no reason.

“What surprises me is that this is happening under the nose of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo —somebody I sacrificed my life for and he knows it. That is what surprises me but I wouldn’t like to talk much on that because I have also held him, until recently, [to be] one of the true democrats. But if this can happen under his nose then I can think we are in a different era,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said, adding that the whole affair was “vindictive” and smacked of “malicious persecution” reminiscent of the PNDC days.

However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Friday, Mr  Ohene Agyapong urged Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe to rather advise Mr Mahama and stop the unnecessary attacks on the President.

“If Nyaho-Tamakloe has anything better to say, he should advise his nephew and stop attacking Nana Addo over the issue” he stated.

For him, he would be happy if all other monies belonging to the state that were squandered by the previous government were retrieved.

The NPP MP insisted on his promise that he would poison himself if the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners is not jailed by the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to him,  he does not harbor any form of hatred for Ibrahim Mahama but only wants things to be done the right way.
