Audio: NDC man hot after insulting Okyenhene

-

The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council has condemned the insults on the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II by the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwame Zu.

According to the State Secretary of Okyenhene, Dan Ofori-Atta, the abusive and provocative statements by Mr Zu has denigrated the Okyenhene.

Mr Zu last Thursday revealed that the Okyenhene competed with animals for water in various unsafe sources until the former President John Mahama provided water for residents of Kyebi which is the hometown of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He said this while addressing participants of a demonstration by the Coalition for National Sovereignty.

But, Mr Ofori-Atta, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem‘, Monday said it saddens the Okyenhene to hear the NDC activist campaigning on radio that it was President Mahama who provided water to Kyebi residents, stressing that “it’s not true.”

He said though Mr Zu has written to apologise for his unsavory comments, the chiefs will not accept the apology.

“How can such comments come from an NDC activist when indeed he knows it’s false? We saw his apology letter on social media. But as it stands now, Nananom won’t accept it. He needs to do the right thing as well as his party because his statement has defamed our Okyenhene,” he said.
