Martin Amidu, Former Special Prosecutor

Some people are not impressed with the work done so far by Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Amidu.

Rather, they believe he is more focused on throwing ‘unnecessary’ tantrums and writing epistles when he is supposed to hit the ground running.

One of such persons is Dr Benjamin Okyere Ankrah, who is a lecturer at the Central University in Accra.

In his view, the Special Prosecutor is not focused on the job assigned him but is rather “talking too much.”

“Instead of prosecuting cases in court, he is focused on writing. He is better off as Daily Graphic editor because he is very good at writing,” he fumed.

Dr Benjamin Okyere Ankrah

Dr Ankrah made the comment on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Thursday while reacting to Mr Amidu’s claim that, the Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo wanted to pass a Legislative Instrument that would have made him a “lame-duck.”

In an interview with David Ampofo on the Time With David talk show, the Citizen Vigilante claimed had he not intervened and insisted, the Special Prosecutor’s Office would have existed just in name.

But, Dr Ankrah said such incessant lamentations by the Special Prosecutor create an impression that, he is unfit for the job.

Rather, he said the anti-corruption crusader is now focused on writing and accusing the people who have provided all he needs to work effectively.

“My confidence I had in Martin Amidu has weaned; what has he done since he took office? All he does is to lament when everything has been provided for him to work. If he can’t do the job, he should quit,” Dr Ankrah said.
