A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment by the Ofakor Circuit Court for defiling a two-year-old girl.
The accused, Robert Mensah, a mason pleaded guilty to the charge but said he only rubbed his male organ on the victim’s vagina.
Adom News’ Kofi Adjei who was in court reported that, the accused from Gomoa in the Central region lured the victim into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
But luck eluded him when he was caught red-handed by residents in the area and subjected to severe beatings.
Chief Inspector Danso who was the prosecutor from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command told the court residents handed the suspect over to the Awuku Breku police for prosecution.
The judge, Justice Ebenezer Darko, passing sentence, said the punishment imposed on him could serve as a deterrent to men who took advantage of minors, women or people living with disability to abuse them sexually.
