One of the people to benefit from the government’s compensation package for property destroyed during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election has described the decision as good news.
Madam Justine, whose beauty salon container was hit by a stray bullet during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, is one of the three people the Emile Short Commission recommended payment of compensation for damage caused to their property.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News, Madam Justine said:
“We are happy at least there is going to be some form of compensation but if this hadn’t come, who ever fired the shot wouldn’t have known no peace and this will help me fix other things in my shop.”
The Commission of Inquiry report said the payment of financial compensation to the persons was on the basis of injuries sustained by them arising out of the reckless gunshots by the SWAT team.
