The Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District Assembly of the Central Region has banned jackpot operations in the town.

The decision according to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Isaac Odoom is to save declining standards of education in all the communities in the district.

He noted also that the decision was spurred by poor academic results and complaints by parents about the effects of the jackpot on the district.

Mr Odoom said children between the ages from 6 to 12 years are heavily involved in this business from dusk to dawn.

“The jackpot is contributing to child delinquency in the District and if care is not taken it will put the whole District in trouble. Not only is the jackpot contributing to child crime but also school dropout is increasing due to the jackpot activity and therefore banning it will help solve the situation” he said.
