The Asunafo North Municipal Assembly in the Ahafo Region has supported 70 persons with disabilities (PWDs) with livelihood empowerment items aimed at improving their economic well-being and promoting self-reliance.
The items were presented at Goaso by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Joseph Akparibo, and included 10 fufu pounding machines, 17 deep freezers, two industrial sewing machines, eight knapsack spraying machines, two overlock sewing machines, and cash support.
The Assembly also provided canopies and chairs for the municipality’s association of persons with disabilities to support their activities.

Presenting the items, Mr Akparibo urged the beneficiaries to put the equipment to productive use to improve their livelihoods.
He noted that many other persons with disabilities in the municipality are also in need of support and encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.
The MCE explained that similar assistance would be extended to other persons with disabilities in subsequent phases as part of efforts to promote inclusiveness and economic empowerment.

According to the MCE, this is the third batch of beneficiaries to receive support since he assumed office, adding that an assessment by the Assembly shows that previous recipients have used the items to improve their lives.
He assured that the Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, would continue to monitor beneficiaries to ensure the items are used for their intended purposes and to guarantee value for money.
Some beneficiaries, including Felicia Owo, who received an industrial sewing machine, and Doris Adansi Bonah, who received a freezer, expressed appreciation to the Assembly, describing the support as timely and saying it would help improve their livelihoods.
