Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has become the first Ghanaian to be named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year.
The Manchester City forward earned the honour after a standout campaign in which he made an immediate impact following his arrival at the club.
Semenyo announced himself in style on January 10, 2026, scoring on his debut in City’s 10-1 FA Cup victory over Exeter City. He also set up another goal and was named Player of the Match.
Three days later, he delivered another impressive performance against Newcastle United in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final, scoring in City’s 2-0 victory.
He had initially appeared to have scored twice, but one of his goals was later ruled out by VAR after Erling Haaland was adjudged to have been offside and to have obstructed goalkeeper Nick Pope.
The Ghanaian’s pace, strength and direct running made him a key figure in City’s attack as he established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout forwards during the season.
