The IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) has arrested seven suspects in a coordinated, intelligence-led anti-narcotics operation across parts of the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, during separate operations at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim, following intelligence on suspected narcotics-related activities.
At Ejisu, police arrested Nana Kwadwo Adu, 43, and Nana Kwame Fella, 48.
At Abrepo Junction, officers arrested Stephanie Anokye, 23; Roland Anokye, 20; Gideon Owusu, 30; and Grace Fosua, 27.
At Atimatim, the team targeted and arrested Kofi Opoku, 27, who was suspected of peddling narcotic substances and had reportedly evaded arrest on previous occasions.
Items retrieved during the operations included pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances; quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg; and 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol suspected to be unregistered drugs.
An unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency was also recovered.
All seven suspects are in police custody and assisting with investigations aimed at identifying the source of the substances, determining the extent of their involvement and tracing any additional persons linked to the suspected activities.
The police have urged the public to continue providing credible information to support public safety and security and said further updates would be issued as investigations progress.
