Mr Banaku demanded that the government, as a matter of urgency, distributes the ambulances to help save lives

Personnel of the Ghana Ambulance Service have completed a week-long training and dress rehearsal ahead of the commissioning and distribution of recently acquired state ambulances.

The over 450 trainees, 300 paramedics and 150 drivers assembled at the forecourt of the Parliament House were trained on proper measures to treat and transport emergency patients to hospitals.

The ambulances, which were behind schedule for distribution, are now ready after tracking devices and digitization Information Communication Technology (ICT) systems were successfully installed.

Speaking on the issue, Health Advisor to the Presidency, Anthony Nsiah Asare, revealed more ambulances would be added on with time to ensure the effectiveness of the system.

“We need over 1000 or 1500 ambulances so we shall continuously procure ambulances to add on. We will replace the ambulances to ensure they last longer than they are supposed to be. That is why we said we want to wait till 28th,” he told the media.

The commissioning and distribution of the ambulances slated for 6th January was postponed to 28th of the same month, following a recommendation by the GNAS on the basis that training and digitization of the ambulances among other things were behind schedule.
