The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has commiserated with the family of a toddler who died in Saturday’s heavy downpour in the constituency. One other child was pulled out alive.
According to a press release from his office, the MP sent his constituency team to visit the family and console them as soon as he heard the news while he is currently away on parliamentary duties.
The statement said the MP will visit the family himself when he returns to the constituency next weekend.
In the meantime, he has donated a token to the family through his team. He described the incident as heartbreaking.
The MP has also engaged the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Birim Central Municipal Assembly to support the family and assess flood-prone areas to prevent a recurrence.
Mr Acquah urged residents to be careful during the rainy season.
