The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has given commercial drivers operating around the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), particularly at the Gee Roundabout, until October 30, 2026, to vacate unauthorised parking and loading points.
The directive targets drivers parking or picking up passengers along both sides of the road stretching from the 4th Battalion of Infantry (4BN) gate to the Gee Roundabout.
However, the Assembly said the designated taxi rank in front of the Polyclinic within the KATH premises is exempt from the directive.
In a notice, the KMA directed affected drivers to return to their respective transport unions and use approved loading points by the deadline.
The Assembly warned that a task force would begin enforcement operations on Sunday, November 1, 2026, to clear the affected areas.
Vehicles found violating the directive will be removed and detained in accordance with the Assembly’s enforcement procedures.
The KMA said the move was intended to ensure the free flow of traffic, improve road safety and restore order around the hospital and its surrounding areas.
It urged commercial drivers, transport unions and the general public to cooperate with the directive ahead of the enforcement deadline.
