Former Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has advised that Ghana should guard against complacency despite being handed a fair group following last week’s draw for this years’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Egypt.

The tough talking Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodio Constituency told Asempa FM that “football is a dynamic sport and for that matter, you underrate any country at your own risk.”

According to the MP for the Odododiodio Constituency, Africa
is now up in terms of football so any country that Ghana will be paired with,
should be considered a powerhouse.

“Every country is moving forward in football nowadays; football has changed in Africa, the last time we (Ghana) won the Cup of Nations trophy for the fourth time, Cameroon had no AFCON trophy.

“Today Cameroon have won more trophies than Ghana, so if we think we are meeting Benin and Guinea Bissau so it will be easy for us, we will end up laughing at the wrong side of our mouth,” he warned.

Ghana have been drawn alongside defending champions Cameroon,
Benin and Guinea Bissau in Group F ahead of the tournament.
