The police command in the Ashanti region has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of two Canadian nationals at Ahodwo in the Kumasi metropolis.

The police would not give any further details except to say they are investigating the matter.

The unidentified gang reportedly stopped and forced the two into their car at about 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at their apartment at Silver Spring Avenue, around Vienna City.

One of the victims has only been identified as Lauren and is in Ghana with her other colleague on an exchange programme with the Entrepreneurship Department of the Kumasi Technical University.

It is reported that the Canadian Embassy is collaborating with the Ghanaian police to locate the victims.

It is, however, not clear whether the abductors have made contact with the family of the victims or the Canadian Embassy to demand for ransom.

Luv FMs Erastus Asare Donkor reported that the victims’ guardian said they were picked in her presence and so she is in great distress.
