Bibiani Gold Stars chief executive Akwasi Adu says none of the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs has received the promised GHC1m financial support, six matches into the 2026/27 season.
The funding was announced at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence before the start of the campaign, with each top-flight club expected to benefit.
However, the money has yet to reach the clubs, raising questions about when the promised funds will be disbursed.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Adu said the GFA leadership was expected to meet club representatives to discuss the delay and agree on when payments would be made.
“No Premier League club has received the promised GHC1m, but I know the Ghana Football Association leadership, together with the clubs, will be meeting soon to discuss when the money will be paid to the clubs,” he said.
Adu also urged clubs to take greater responsibility for their finances, insisting they should not depend entirely on the GFA for financial support.
“It’s an association, and we, the clubs, have decided to join, so we must have money for our season and not wait on the GFA for money, but we are confident the money will be paid,” he added.
The delay comes as clubs continue their campaigns in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League, with the promised funding expected to help ease some of their financial pressures during the season.
Meanwhile, Gold Stars will travel to face newly promoted Debibi United on Sunday, 18 October, as they seek to improve their league form.
The Matchday Seven fixture is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT, with the Miners aiming to get their campaign back on track.
