Adansi Akrofuom MP, Joseph Azumah, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently weak, and that presents the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with an opportunity to extend its stay in power.
According to him, considering the current state of the NPP, the NDC’s prospect of remaining in power for 16 consecutive years should have been a “sure banker.”
However, Mr Azumah suggested that it would require a competent strategic team for that to happen.
Mr Azumah made the remarks on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem while commenting on the NPP’s election of new national executives.
“Looking at the current state of the NPP, the NDC’s straight 16 years should have been a sure banker. The NPP is now weak, and if the NDC has a good strategic team to manage things for us, things will go well,” he said.
The NPP elected John Boadu as National Chairman, while Justin Kodua Frimpong retained the General Secretary position. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover was also elected National Organiser.
However, Mr Azumah said he saw little that was new about the party’s latest executive line-up, with the exception of Titus-Glover, whom he credited with strong organisational and strategic skills.
He said the NPP’s ability to turn around its fortunes would ultimately depend on how effectively the new leadership manages the party and implements its strategy.
He said the focus should therefore go beyond the election of executives to how the new team manages the party’s structures, strategy, and overall political direction.
