A veteran grassroots organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Kpema, has died.
His death has triggered tributes from members of the party who remember him for his years of dedicated service to the NDC, particularly at the Malshegu branch where he served as the longest-serving Branch Chairman.
Alhaji Kpema was described as a humble and committed grassroots leader who played a significant role in strengthening the party’s structures in Malshegu.
During his tenure, the branch reportedly grew from a single ballot box to four, a development attributed in part to his efforts to expand and consolidate the party’s grassroots presence.
Beyond his official responsibilities, Alhaji Kpema was also known for supporting the branch with his personal resources.
At a time when his business was thriving, he reportedly channelled part of his resources into the activities of the branch, demonstrating a commitment that colleagues said went beyond political office.
He was also remembered as a leader who remained closely connected to ordinary party members and understood the concerns of people at the grassroots.
Tributes following his death have described him as more than a branch chairman, but as a servant whose years of sacrifice helped shape the political history of Malshegu and the wider Sagnarigu Constituency.
His passing has therefore been described as a significant loss to the grassroots community, particularly those who worked closely with him throughout his years of service.
He is survived by his family, who have been offered condolences and prayers for strength during the difficult period.
