Government has reassigned the abandoned Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) centre at Ahafoman Senior High Technical School in Goaso, Ahafo Region, to a new contractor for completion.
The project is expected to strengthen STEM education in the region by providing students with facilities to develop their knowledge and skills in science and technology.
Speaking to Adom News during the presentation of the new contractor to the school’s management and an inspection of the project, the Project Consultant, Martin Agbemador, said the contractor had been given 12 months to complete the outstanding works.
He expressed optimism that the project would be completed within the stipulated period, paving the way for the government to hand over the facility to the school.
The Headmaster of Ahafoman Senior High Technical School, Derrick Adu-Gyamfi, welcomed the government’s decision to resume work on the centre, describing its completion as an important step towards improving STEM education in the Ahafo Region.
He noted that the facility was the only STEM centre in the region and said its completion would provide valuable opportunities for students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Construction of the centre began under the previous government but was subsequently abandoned, leaving the project incomplete.
