The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has asked contractors working on the Suame Interchange Project to find ways to finish work sooner, saying the 2028 completion date is too far away.
Mr Agbodza, during a tour of the project, noted that only about 5 percent of Phase One of the interchange has been completed.
“I can see that we are just 5 percent of the interchange itself. I can understand the reasons for the delay, the rescoping and everything, but now we know what we want to do.”
He called for a crash programme on the most critical parts of the work and urged the contractor and other stakeholders to coordinate their efforts and carry out tasks simultaneously wherever possible.
“Let’s speed up. 2028 is too far for us to do this, so let’s rush some of the things and see what we can do quickly.
“I think the speed from where we where the last time is good progress. We are on schedule to hand over that one but everybody knows the biggest problem is the interchange.”
