Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC), Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, has clarified that he is not the individual identified as “Wisdom Dogbey” reportedly wanted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a Facebook post, Mr Dogbey said media reports linking a person with that name to alleged offences of defrauding by false pretences and money laundering do not concern him.
He explained that the similarity in names could create confusion and unintentionally associate him with the reported case.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I am not the person referred to in those reports.”
Mr Dogbey said he was making the clarification because some headlines had used the name “Wisdom Dogbey” without sufficient identification.
He urged media houses, digital platforms, and members of the public to verify identities carefully before attributing reports of this nature to individuals.
“I respectfully encourage media houses, digital platforms, and members of the public to verify identities carefully before attributing reports of this nature to individuals.”
Mr Dogbey said he remains focused on his responsibilities at CMC and efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cocoa trade.
He also thanked those who had reached out to him with concerns and sought clarification.
