The National Lottery Authority (NLA) is set to discontinue all manual, paper-based lotto operations across the country from Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The directive covers all Private Lotto Operators (PLOs), agents and writers operating under the Authority.
In a public notice issued on Monday, September 28, the NLA warned that operators who continue with the manual system beyond the deadline will be barred from operating and could face legal action.
“All PLOs, Agents, and Writers who fail to comply with this directive will not be permitted to operate and will face the full rigours of the law,” the NLA stated.
The move forms part of the Authority’s enforcement of the complete cessation of manual paper-based lotto operations.
Private operators who wish to remain in the business have been encouraged to transition by registering as Lotto Marketing Companies (LMCs).
The NLA has advised interested operators to contact its sales managers at regional or district offices across the country to begin the registration process.
