Lawyer for senior nursing officer Salomey Awity Baffoe, Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah, says he is optimistic that the High Court will grant his client bail when her application is heard on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The bail application was filed on Friday and is scheduled to be heard at 9:00 a.m. at the High Court Complex.
Speaking ahead of the hearing, Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah said the legal team is confident Ms Baffoe will be released to reunite with her children.
“It was filed on Friday, and the date for hearing is Wednesday at 9 o’clock at the High Court Complex. We are very confident that she’ll be released to go and enjoy life and take care of her children, who have not had their mother for the last 10 days,” he said.
The lawyer maintained that there is no justification for his client to remain in custody, arguing that the police investigation into the matter has effectively been concluded.
“Demonstrably from the government’s own statement, there’s no outstanding investigation to be conducted. So why is she being held?” he added.
Ms Baffoe is facing a charge of abetment of crime, to wit, publication of false news, in connection with an ongoing police investigation.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charge after the Adentan Circuit Court remanded her for two weeks on Friday, September 18.
The Police allege that Ms Baffoe assisted Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, whom they identify as the operator of the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account and who is believed to be in the United Kingdom, to distribute videos and recruit others to further circulate the content.
According to the Police, a forensic examination of Ms Baffoe’s phone, including audio and video files, as well as mobile money records, revealed alleged financial links between her and Ms Kodua.
Ms Baffoe is expected to return to the Adentan Circuit Court on September 28, 2026, as proceedings continue.
The High Court’s ruling on the bail application will determine whether she remains in custody pending further proceedings or is released on bail.
