President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has attributed Ghana’s recent economic recovery to growing investor confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.
Speaking at the Accra Reset, hosted by President Mahama on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, September 21, Mr Dangote said the country’s economic rebound demonstrates the importance of trust in driving investment and economic growth.
The African business magnate said President Mahama’s leadership had helped restore confidence among investors, contributing to renewed interest in Ghana’s economy.
According to him, the turnaround was not the result of extraordinary measures but rather the outcome of decisions that helped rebuild confidence in the country’s economic prospects.
“He didn’t do any magic. He’s not a magician, but he did the right things, and people really have a lot of trust in him. And that’s why Ghana’s economy turned around. This has actually shown that money follows trust,” he said.
Mr Dangote further noted that Ghana’s experience highlights the strong link between confidence in political leadership and the flow of capital into an economy.
He said sustained investor trust remains essential to consolidating Ghana’s economic recovery and attracting further investment.
