Musician Reggie Zippy has reached an emotional breaking point following his latest court appearance over non-molestation breach of which he faces up to 5 years imprisonment if convicted.
The musician, however, says his case was adjourned to later in October and no plea was entered because the matter was not heard.
In a video shared after the court session, Reggie said he has attended several types of court proceedings over the years, but described the latest experience as one of his most difficult.
According to him, he became so overwhelmed that he told his lawyer he was prepared to accept imprisonment if that would bring an end to the situation.
“I was ready to throw in the towel. I’m tired. Let them put me in jail for the next five years and hopefully it will make everybody happy,” he said.
Reggie said his legal representative intervened and reminded him that he had valid and solid points in his case, urging him not to give up in the manner he was contemplating.
He also became emotional while speaking about the effect the ongoing situation has had on his family, particularly older relatives who, he said, have been concerned about him.
The musician said his lawyer and the lawyer’s assistant supported him through the difficult moment and helped him regain perspective.
He explained that the case is now a matter between him and the Crown Prosecution, rather than a dispute with a private individual (his ex-wife).
Reggie stressed that he would continue to allow the legal process to take its course and intends to speak publicly about the allegations and his experience when the case is concluded.
He also appealed to those following the matter not to mention or target individuals in connection with the case, noting that it is now before the Crown.
Despite the emotional court experience, Reggie said he was back home and hopeful for his his next court appearance.
