Two persons have been arrested for allegedly collecting money from victims under the false pretext of securing placement into their preferred Senior High Schools.
The suspects, identified as 24-year-old University of Ghana graduate Vicentia Appiah Antwi and 18-year-old unemployed Suzzy Owusu, were re-arrested on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at about 1:30 p.m.
The operation was carried out by a team from the Ministry of Education acting on the directives of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, following intelligence received by the Intelligence Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.
According to the information, the suspects allegedly collected between GH¢9,500 and GH¢22,000 from each victim, with the amount reportedly depending on the Senior High School the victim wanted to secure placement into.
During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly named two other persons they claimed were involved in the scheme.
They identified one of them as Nana Yaw Boateng, whom they alleged was a medical doctor at Kwadaso SDA Hospital in Kumasi, and another person identified as Alex Asumani, also known as Lexus.
The two suspects were interrogated, cautioned and detained for 24 hours as part of investigations.
They were subsequently granted bail and released to a credible surety to assist investigators in tracing and arresting the other persons allegedly linked to the scheme.
Statements have also been obtained from two victims and their parents, while the alleged accomplices have been asked to report to the Unit to assist with investigations.
Authorities say further action will be communicated as investigations continue.
