Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has recalled Mohammed Kudus and handed first Black Stars call-ups to Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor in a 24-man squad for this month’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
The squad, announced ahead of three fixtures in September and October, is largely built around the players who featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Kudus returns after missing Ghana’s World Cup campaign because of an injury that sidelined him for seven months, while SV Elversberg defender Gyamerah and New York Red Bulls midfielder Donkor earn their maiden senior international selections after impressing for their clubs.
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare keeps his place in the squad alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
France-based defender Nathaniel Adjei also returns after almost a year away from the national team, having enjoyed a strong start to the season with Lorient in Ligue 1.
Brighton’s Ibrahim Osman is back in the fold, as is Sassuolo midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana, adding further depth to a squad seeking a positive start to Ghana’s AFCON qualifying campaign after missing out on the 2025 finals.
The Black Stars begin their Group C campaign away to Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, 24 September, before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, 29 September.
Queiroz’s side will then conclude the international window with a friendly against Morocco on Sunday, 4 October, as preparations continue for the remainder of the qualifying campaign.
