Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has left experienced midfielder Thomas Partey, forward Brandon Thomas-Asante and other players out of his squad for this month’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
The Black Stars begin their qualifying campaign away to Côte d’Ivoire on 24 September at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September.
They will also face Morocco in an international friendly at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
Partey’s omission comes despite the 32-year-old returning to training with Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab after recovering from injury.
The midfielder had been sidelined for two weeks after picking up a knock during Al Shabab’s league match against Al Riyadh in August, but his return to fitness has not been enough to earn a place in Queiroz’s latest squad.
Thomas-Asante has also been overlooked despite featuring for Coventry City following the club’s return to the Premier League.
The forward has made four league appearances this season, playing 139 minutes without scoring or providing an assist.
Defenders Abdul Mumin, Alidu Seidu and Jonas Adjetey, as well as midfielder Elisha Owusu, have also been omitted from the squad as Queiroz reshapes his options for the opening round of qualifiers.
