The family head of the late General Constable Redeemer Kofi Owusu has called on the authorities to ensure justice is served following the alleged lynching of the 32-year-old police officer at Gindabour in the Savannah Region.
Constable Owusu was allegedly lynched by a mob at his duty post in Gindabour, in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, following a confrontation between residents and the police.
The incident has left the deceased’s family deeply saddened and concerned, with the family head appealing for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.
Speaking to Adom News, Nana Sekyere Nkwantabisa III, Ahafo Mmem Sekyere Krom Hene, described the incident as tragic and urged the appropriate authorities to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
He stressed the need for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full force of the law.
His appeal comes amid efforts by authorities to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
Earlier, Savannah Regional Minister Salisu Be-Awuribe told Adom News that authorities were working urgently to ensure safety and order in the area.
The alleged killing of the police officer has raised concerns about the safety of security personnel and the need for accountability following confrontations between law enforcement officers and residents.
The family is now seeking answers and justice as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death are pursued.
