Board Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and former Amenfi East Member of Parliament, Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, has officially declared his intention to contest the National Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr Opong-Fosu, a former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, said his decision is driven by a commitment to serve the party, strengthen its structures and build a more united and inclusive NDC.
He said his vision for the party is anchored on restoration, renewal and a reset, with emphasis on ethical leadership, accountability and the creation of opportunities for all.
According to him, his decision to contest is not merely about seeking political office but about contributing to the revitalisation of the party and strengthening its organisational structures.
He further expressed his desire to help build an NDC that is united, resilient and responsive to the aspirations of its members.
Dr Opong-Fosu said the party must continue to evolve and strengthen its structures to effectively serve its members and meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
His declaration adds to the developing contest for the NDC’s National Chairmanship, ahead of the party’s internal elections.
