Medeama’s CAF Champions League campaign came to an end after they were beaten 3-1 by TP Mazembe in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie in Lubumbashi, sealing a 4-1 aggregate defeat.
The Ghana Premier League champions travelled to DR Congo hoping to overturn a 1-0 first-leg loss suffered in Tarkwa, but the five-time African champions proved too strong on home soil.
Patrick Mwanungulu put Mazembe ahead in the 16th minute before Kazema Baso doubled the lead eight minutes later to leave Medeama with a mountain to climb.
Mwanungulu struck again in the 78th minute to complete his brace and effectively end any hopes of a comeback.
Dominic Amponsah pulled one back for the visitors three minutes from time, but it proved only a consolation as Mazembe advanced to the next preliminary round, where they will face Zambia’s Red Arrows.
Medeama will now switch their focus to defending their Ghana Premier League title in the 2026-27 season.
