The aspiring First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Masawudu Osman, popularly known as Chairman Buga Buga, has rejected perceptions that he is a violent person, despite his involvement in confrontations with some politicians in the past.
Alhaji Osman has said such incidents should not be used to define his character, insisting that he is generally a calm and composed person.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Chairman Buga Buga said people who know him personally can attest to his temperament and would find it difficult to associate him with violence.
“People think I’m violent, but my colleagues and those who know me know that I’m a very cool person; it’s very hard for me to hit someone physically,” he said.
He explained that while his political engagements may have occasionally resulted in confrontational moments, those incidents do not reflect his personality outside such circumstances.
Chairman Buga Buga maintained that his colleagues and close associates are familiar with his calm nature, urging people not to draw conclusions about his character based solely on isolated political encounters.
He is currently seeking to retain his place in the NPP’s national leadership structure by contesting the position of First Vice Chairman.
According to him, his decision to contest the position is largely influenced by the experience he has acquired during his tenure as a national vice chairman and his desire to contribute further to the party’s development.
He also believes his experience within the party has given him valuable institutional knowledge that could help strengthen the NPP’s organisational structures and preserve its institutional memory.
Chairman Buga Buga is therefore campaigning on the basis of his experience and familiarity with the party’s operations as he seeks the support of delegates ahead of the NPP’s internal elections.
