New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser hopeful, Ali Maiga Halidu, says he is the best candidate to lead the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and help secure victory in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, his extensive experience at various levels of the NPP, combined with his commitment to grassroots engagement, makes him the ideal candidate for the National Organiser position.

“If NPP wants to win 2028, Ali Maiga is the way to go,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Maiga said his political journey began at the age of 18 when he served as an NPP ward secretary.

He subsequently became Constituency Secretary for Dormaa West, Bono-Ahafo Regional Organiser, a National Council member and later a Member of Parliament.

He said the NPP faces a difficult task ahead of the 2028 elections but insisted that victory must remain the party’s primary objective.

“2028 overall victory is non-negotiable because of how the country is going. If we don’t come back to power, Ghanaians will be sad. It’s not an easy task for us, but we will do it,” he stated.

Mr Maiga said the party needs a National Organiser who is constantly present on the ground, understands grassroots politics and has the energy and experience to engage voters across the country.

“We need a National Organiser who is a road master, who has the tactics, strategy and experience and knows it all. I have all that,” he said.

He argued that one of the key tests for anyone seeking to become National Organiser should be the ability and willingness to tour all 276 constituencies.

“I believe to be a National Organiser, your first test is to have the ability to tour all the 276 constituencies. If you cannot do that, you have no business being the National Organiser,” he stated.

Mr Maiga said the NPP’s strategy must focus heavily on grassroots mobilisation, engaging communities and explaining why voters should choose the party over the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“The task we have ahead is not an easy one. It’s ground mobilisation, speaking to the people and explaining to them why the NPP is a better option than the NDC,” he said.

He expressed confidence in his ability to undertake such a nationwide mobilisation exercise, citing his experience and previous engagement with voters.

“I have the energy, and I have demonstrated to the voters that I respect them by going to them. I also have the strategy. I am a grassroots person; no one can match my strength,” he stated.

Mr Maiga maintained that his combination of experience, energy, strategy and grassroots connections makes him the “complete package” for the National Organiser position.

“I am the complete package of a National Organiser,” he added.
