Forty-seven of the 50 aspirants who purchased nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections have successfully completed the filing process.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said the filing exercise ended at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Three aspirants, however, failed to complete the process.
They are Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who had expressed interest in the National Chairperson position; Evans Kodom, a candidate for National Communications Director; and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who purchased a nomination form to contest the National Women Organiser position.
According to the NOEC, Mr Boasiako subsequently withdrew his candidature, while Mr Kodom withdrew during the filing of Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s nomination. Ms Akwada, on the other hand, failed to submit her completed forms before the deadline.
The development leaves Mr Aboagye as the sole aspirant for the National Communications Director position.
He will, however, have to successfully go through the vetting process and satisfy all the applicable requirements before his candidature can be confirmed as unopposed.
The vetting of the 47 aspirants is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31, and end on Thursday, September 3.
The exercise will be supervised by a Vetting Committee chaired by former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Candidates contesting the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will appear before the committee on Monday.
National Vice Chairperson aspirants will be vetted on Tuesday, followed by candidates for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday.
The final day, Thursday, will be dedicated to aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting an “orderly, fair, transparent and credible” election process.
It has also appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to uphold party unity and help build confidence in the electoral process.
