Ghana international Mohammed Kudus made his long-awaited return from injury as Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 26-year-old came off the bench in the 68th minute, replacing Mathys Tel, for his first competitive appearance since January.
Kudus completed 11 of his 13 passes, registered 24 touches, completed his only dribble and made two ball recoveries. His only shot was blocked.
The midfielder had been sidelined since suffering a knee injury against Sunderland in January 2026.
Although he had initially been expected to return in April, a setback during his rehabilitation extended his absence to seven months, causing him to miss 25 matches in all competitions and Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Tottenham’s defeat was their second consecutive loss of the new season, following a 3-0 opening-day defeat by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Kudus could make his first start since returning when Spurs travel to Nottingham Forest next weekend.
