The Asutifi South District Assembly in the Ahafo Region has recorded a strong performance in its Internal Generated Funds (IGF) mobilisation, collecting more than half of its annual target within the first six months of 2026.
The Assembly set an IGF target of GH¢2.5 million for the year and had generated GH¢1,447,317.87 by the end of June.
The amount represents about 58% of the Assembly’s annual target, putting it on course to improve its revenue performance by the end of the year.
District Chief Executive (DCE), Benjamin Assabil Donkor, disclosed the figures in an interview with Adom News at Hwidiem following the Assembly’s general meeting.
Mr Donkor said the Assembly had in the past faced challenges in raising enough internal revenue, but its performance was improving following the introduction of new revenue collection measures.
He said the Assembly had stepped up public education to help residents understand how their taxes and other payments contribute to development in their communities.
Residents, he noted, were being encouraged to pay their taxes, rates and levies on time, since the Assembly needs adequate funds to provide essential infrastructure and services.
The DCE also disclosed that a task force had been formed to regularly visit communities and follow up on unpaid revenues.
He expressed optimism that the improved revenue collection would give the Assembly more resources to undertake development projects and improve services across the district.
Meanwhile, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Alhassan Mohammed, commended Assembly members for their efforts towards improving revenue mobilisation.
He urged them to continue supporting measures aimed at increasing the Assembly’s internally generated funds to accelerate development in the district.
He said the Assembly had identified and addressed several loopholes that previously affected its ability to generate revenue.
Mr Mohammed expressed confidence that with the measures implemented and the continued cooperation of residents, the Assembly would achieve its GH¢2.5 million IGF target for 2026.
