Spanish giants Real Madrid have signed Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Oppong from second-tier side Granada on a three-year contract.
The 21-year-old centre-back joins the European champions in a deal reportedly worth about €2m after completing his medical.
Naasei will initially link up with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve side, as he continues his development and seeks to establish himself within the Spanish giants’ system.
Real Madrid moved for the defender after his performances for Granada attracted interest from a number of clubs.
Naasei joined Granada in 2023 and progressed through the club’s youth system before breaking into the senior squad.
He has made two appearances for Granada in the Segunda Division this season and has impressed with his versatility, being capable of playing both at centre-back and right-back.
The Accra-born defender also earned his first senior Ghana cap in May when he featured in the Black Stars’ friendly against Mexico.
His move to Real Madrid marks a significant step in his career, with Naasei now hoping to develop at Castilla and eventually earn a place in the club’s first team.
The Ghanaian becomes the latest young defender to make the move to one of European football’s biggest clubs as Real Madrid continue to invest in emerging talent.
