The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has cautioned the public against a fake notice circulating on social media announcing an alleged auction sale of vehicles and general goods.
The notice, which claims that the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and GPHA are jointly organising an e-auction of impounded vehicles and goods, has been circulating on social media platforms.
It lists the Kotoka International Airport, Tema, Takoradi Port and APM Terminal at Tema Port as locations for the supposed auction.
The notice also advertises items including tractors, heavy-duty trucks, generators, machines, sewing machines, containers, motorcycles and corn milling machines.
However, GPHA has warned members of the public not to rely on the circulating notice, describing it as fake.
The Authority has urged the public to be cautious and avoid engaging with individuals behind the fraudulent communication or making payments based on the information contained in it.
Members of the public are encouraged to rely on official communication channels of GPHA and the relevant state institutions for verified information concerning any public auction.
